1952 Men's Slalom (Othmar Schneider AUT)

A great all-around skier, Othmar Schneider's biggest success came at the 1952 Olympics, where he won the slalom and took second place. He could have won third medal in the combination, but the event was discontinued after 1948 and replaced by the giant slalom. It was as if a World Cup event following the Olympic Games take place, but not in Oslo. While the administration did not win additional medals in international championships (Schneider in fourth place in 1954 World Cup giant slalom), hehas won several awards in the major races in Europe and North America. In 1951, he has won the famous Arlberg-Kandahar Slalom (in Sestriere this year), while the profits of the Wengen downhill and combination of two consecutive years (1951-1952). After the 1956 Winter Olympics, Schneider moved to the pros, competing in two World Professional Championships. In the meantime, he moved to a second focus sport pistol shooting. A 34-fold Austrian champions (17 individual titles), he won a World ChampionshipTeam bronze in the free pistol (1974) and a European Championship team bronze in the center fire pistol (1975). A third Olympic appearance in the sport, because it is impossible in the past, Schneider, with a pro and a ski instructor in the U.S. and Chile. Schneider, manager of the course was on the 1966 World Championships in Chile, and later managed his own house in Lech and owned and managed Huber, a manufacturor ski apparel and accessories.
